hunting in pakistan & gojal hunza
This huge chunk of land located in
the center of Asia seems to absorb the brightest examples of landscape. A
wealth of frosty mountain peaks, sparkling glaciers, softly rustling evergreen
forests, huge rocky canyons bridged by colorful rainbows, emerald mountain
lakes, wild rivers, poetic sunrises and unique flora and fauna. With rugged
snowy mountains that have fluted icy pinnacles piercing the sky and windswept
plains stretching for miles, Pakistan is a land of contrasts. It offers some of
Asia’s most mind bending features and a kaleidoscopic view of culture and
ethnic structure. Pakistan has the densest concentration of high mountain peaks
on earth. It features 5 out of the 14 summits that soar above 24000 feet on the
face of the earth. 40 of the world’s 50 highest mountains occupy the northern
part of the country, where three of the Himalayas. It is also here, at a
stone’s throw, these mass of mountain chains neighbor the equally great Pamir
plateau.

This land of geographical splendors
is also endowed with the rarest animals in creation, some of which are
indigenous specifically to its spectacular mountains. Here live three different
species of markhor, four separate types of urial, as two subspecies of ibex,
Marco polo argali and blue sheep in their remote wilderness. Being a game rich
country, Pakistan was appreciated by a number of trophy hunters long before its
separation from British India. Many British soldiers here had the privilege of
pursuing these elusive game animals back in colonial times. Now it is your turn
to hunt in these lands and have a taste of the excitement these sportsmen
experienced previously. The combination hunt of these two different species can
be done in the famed Dureji Game Management Area location in southern Pakistan,
about 150 km (93 miles) north of Karachi. The area can be reached in three
hours by following a mostly dirt road. The hunters are received in one of the
houses built for the guests by the family that ruled the area for many
centuries. It is probably one of the most luxurious hunting accommodation one
can even enjoy anywhere in Asia. The area is traditionally known for its
abundance of wildlife. Both species share the same habitat in many parts of the
130,000 ha territory and it is not very unusual to collect both animals on a
single day. The highest point in the area is 3000’ while most of the hunting
takes place at the altitude of 600-2100’.The average horn length for the urial
should be considered to be at around 28-29” while it is 37-38” with the Sind
ibex. But expecting bigger trophy size is not so unrealistic since the trophy
quality is getting better and better. Due to hot weather conditions in the
area, early season hunts in January, February and March are ideal. The
temperature will be lower at this time of the year, which helps hunting considerably.
Northern Areas Gilgit –Baltistan

These huge chunks of land located in
the extreme north of Pakistan absorb the brightest examples of landscape. A wealth
of frosty mountain peaks, sparkling glaciers, softly rustling evergreen
forests, huge rocky canyons bridged by colorful rainbows, emerald mountain
lakes, wild rivers, poetic sunrises and unique flora and fauna. In this area
the most famous and dream trophy Kashmir and astore markhor, blue sheep,
Himalayan ibex, ladakh urial, and Marco polo sheep found. There is also chance
to see snowleapord.HIMALYAN IBEX (Capra sibirica hemalayanus):

Having fairly widespread population
higher mountain ranges of northern Pakistan, Himalayan ibex hunting can be
carried out in several different Community Controlled Hunting Area throughout
the Himalayan mountain range.Himalayan ibex is a dweller of high alpine zone
and can be found at altitudes of 10,000-16,000’. It has a wide distribution
than any other Capra species in this region and is found in large numbers. The
best season is December Late season hunts in February and March are advisable
since the weather condition can be harsh during the rutting time of late
December and early January. Getting to the hunting point area as scheduled can
be negatively affected due to cancelled or delayed flights, road blocks because
of rock slide or washouts. The accommodation mostly consists of village homes
with basic facilities and clean rooms. In some cases shepherd huts can be used
as fly camps, if necessary.Himalayan population of the Capra family can be
separated from the Alpine ibex of Europe by the horn shape that grows much
longer and curves round to for a three quarter of a complete arc. Horn length
of 36-37 should be considered as average.
